Parelli Natural Horsemanship..my thoughts..

Yes it's been awhile, but I had to rave about this. If I had some replies every once in awhile I might be more into this whole thing, but seeing as how no one has taken a shine to this whole shindig I guess I'll just post whenever. :)

While I do love that the horse community is starting to focus on natural horsemanship, I have to say I'm not really into all this Parelli stuff. I don't see the point in spending thousands of dollars on his brand line when most of this stuff can be purchased or made at home for a much lower price. I really think the Parelli craze is a way to for him to collect his bit of fortune. Not that I can really say that's bad, but I can understand why some people aren't buying in. I believe communication should be key in all relationships with horses. I love that this is what he is pushing. I just think I've seen too many people take it too far. That being said...I don't dislike the Parelli program, I dislike their prices and even more I dislike the ungodly prices of some of the knock offs who claim his name in the sake of making a fortune.

  1. Hi, it's good to see you posting.

I agree, the prices for equipment, not just Parelli but many of the other "name" trainers is rather outrageous. I'm not buying a $10 halter for $65 just because it has a name on it. The trainer I work with is giving me one of her son's old golf clubs to make a "carrotstick" out of, which is what hers is made from. I have been using an ancient, broken, lunge whip but the shorter and stouter golf club handles a bit better.

BTW, your links to your Esty, FB and Twitter have an extra "http://" on them breaking the links. Just thought I'd let you know.

  2. Thank you for your reply. The links should be working now if you'd like to check them out. :) I've done many things that way, taking what I have and making it into what I need. You can also get those carrot sticks at the feed store for like 12 bucks. If you wanted to use longer ropes you can always buy one and attached it yourself. It's just beyond me. And some of the prices of those videos....terrifyingly high priced.
